Writing about the art of terrible men
#MeToo is transforming theatre, and it is transforming criticism.
First published on this date three years ago, at the end of the 2010s, my first long-form essay came about as an attempt to respond to the medium’s journey through that decade. It became impossible to ignore the influence of the #MeToo movement, and I ended up writing about my own obsession with re-evaluating my taste. It’s difficult to know what to do with the art of terrible men, but I gave it a shot here.
